Dear Folks,
I am going to send you two letters today. This one I shall send thru the Base Censor and the other thru the Company Censor and I want you to let me know which reaches you first. This has been a fine day for this time of the year, almost like spring. We had flannel cakes for breakfast this morning and I ate 10. Imagine the job of cooking hot cakes for a company of 250 men all with appetites like my own.
Things have been going good with us lately. The mud has dried, the fog has cleared, the weather is warmer and our grub is better. In fact, we have scarcely a thing to kick about.
The buds are beginning to swell and is starting to get green. The Frenchmen are hauling out manure and plowing. Well, will tell you more in my other letter.
Lovingly,
Joel
