Dear Folks,
We are having fine weather just now. The fog has cleared and the mud is dried. It feels a good bit like spring. In fact the buds are beginning to swell. The Frenchmen are hauling out manure and plowing some. To haul manure they use two-wheeled carts with shafts. They have a horse in the shafts and string 2 or 3 other horses out ahead.
The French women have never heard of a washing machine I don’t believe. Most of them take the clothes to a creek bank and rub them on a board or flat stone and hammer them some with a paddle. …
